Gun it to Pitt Town this Sunday

Oakville firies are calling all petrolheads to their annual fundraiser. Picture: Geoff JonesIfyouare any sort of car or bike nut, hang your head in shame if you don’t make it to Oakville Rural Fire Brigade’s Car Show and Fun Day this Sunday, April 12 from 10am.

There will be a huge line-up of cars from all eras, including off-road buggies and trucks, micro cars, motorcycles (Indian, Moto Guzzi, vintage Japanese) Morris Minors, Datsuns, Anglias, Prefects, Ford GTs, Holden HSV Clubs, Mustangs, Chevy classics, Dodges, Valiants, VWs, utes and buses.

Most of these vehicles and machines call the Hawkesbury or Nepean Valley home plus some from surrounding areas.

‘‘It’s the best chance to get a look at some pretty amazing toys locally in the one place,’’ organiser Ian Irons said. ‘‘This year we are expecting more later-model modified cars to make their presence felt.’’

Double-decker buses will take young and old for a ride into the past and there will be the chance for a ride on a trike as well.

The Car Show starts at 10am and the rides start at noon. Car judging starts around 1pm.

There will also be craft, curiosity and showbag stalls, fire-wise demonstrations, games and a big fundraising raffle and auction. Proceeds go towards the upkeep and running of the brigade.

The auction of donated goods will be at 2pm, with holidays, meat trays, car services, plants, books, paintings and framed photos. Kids can play all afternoon on the rides for $20 with family passes also available. The club is at 139 Old Pitt Town Road.

Call Ian on 0407 774 348.
