Magazine names Cupitt’s as best cellar door

CLINK CLINK: Tom, Libby and Wally Cupitt show off Cupitt’s award for best cellar door, as decided by Gourmet Wine Magazine. CUPITT’S winery has been named the best cellar door in the Shoalhaven region by the Gourmet Wine Traveller magazine.

The award is a national and independent accolade, based on the wineries overall cellar door experience.

This is the third year in a row that Cupitts has taken out the award.

“People are often surprised to see vinyards in Ulladulla,” said Libby Cupitt.

“An award like this is putting the region on the map for something different,” she said.

“The Shoalhaven Council is working to try and focus on promoting the missed highlights of the area,” Libby said.

The family vineyard is also trying to stay connected to the NSW wine program.

Wally Cupitt was selected to attend the NSW Food and Wine Festival Rising Star Dinner in Sydney, in February.

The dinner featured five of the best young winemakers, producers and chefs from around the state.

“We are trying to stay connected with the NSW wine program as the Shoalhaven is not always represented at the festival,” said Libby.

With the Winter Wine Festival just around the corner, and the harvest finished for the year, Cupitts is focusing on producing more varieties of wine and releasing new vintages.

They will also be branching out into cheese making later in the year.

Rosie is currently in Byron Bay learning more about the cheese making process and gathering inspiration for the vineyards new venture.

Cheese will be on the menu in time for the Winter Wine Festival.
