INGLEWOOD coach Wendy Murphy believes Loddon Valley teams can underestimate its A-grade team at their own peril.

The Blues nearly snatched a win against the reigning premiers, Calivil United, in round one and is aiming to push LVNL contender Mitiamo on Saturday.

“We are a strong tall team and we maybe even surprised ourselves last week with how we played, so we are hoping to maybe surprise a few teams,” Murphy said.

“Last season we were losing by 50 or 60 goals, hopefully this year we can reduce those margins.”

Murphy said what has pleased her was the positive mindset of her players.

“We have had a more positive lead up to the season and our new recruits have equipped well,” she said.“Melanie Rose from Dunolly is an older head, in saying that she is only 27, and the same with Bridget McDougall,” she said.

“They have got a bit more experience and have really helped the team to settle.”

In other matches Marong will play against Pyramid Hill, Calivilwill host Newbridge and Bridgewater will play Bears Lagoon Serpentine.YCW has the bye.
